"Survivor" Idaho-style

Due to the popularity of the "Survivor" reality television shows, Idaho is planning to do its own, titled "Survivor - Idaho Style."

The contestants will start in Burley, travel over to Twin Falls and on to Mountain Home. Then they will head to Boise, up to Coeur d'Alene and then on to Sandpoint. Then they will backtrack to Coeur d'Alene, cross over to Wallace, and through Saint Maries, and head over to Orofino. Heading south, they will go through McCall. The final leg will be back to Burley.

Each will be driving a pink Humvee with California license plates and a large bumper sticker that reads:

"I'm Gay. I'm a Vegetarian. Beer is harmful to your health. Republicans suck. Hillary in 2008. Deer hunting is murder, and I'm here to confiscate your guns."

The first one that makes it back to Burley alive wins.

Good luck to all contestants!

Leave My Child Alone!

From Leave My Child Alone:

Did you know that the notorious No Child Left Behind Act includes a sneaky section that requires high schools to turn over private information on students to military recruiters?

And that the Pentagon has created an illegal database of 30 million 16-25 year-olds, including names, addresses, email addresses, cell phone numbers, ethnicities, social security numbers, extracurricular activities, and areas of study?

Yikes. What do we do? Any way you look at it, this is a family privacy nightmare, another strong-arming of our local schools, and a creepy warm-up to a possible draft. However, it's also a great reason to get together and take action.
