...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS CONTINUED THE FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BIG WOOD RIVER IN GOODING COUNTY IDAHO.
DISCHARGE FROM THE MAGIC RESERVOIR WAS MEASURED AT 5500 CFS ON MONDAY MORNING AND SHOULD LEVEL OFF AROUND 5800 CFS LATER TODAY.
THE RIVER CHANNEL BELOW THE RESERVOIR IS EXPERIENCING FLOODING IN SOME SECTIONS WITH WATER SPILLING OVER ITS BANKS.
THE WATER IN THE CHANNEL NEAR GOODING IS STILL RISING AND WAS MEASURED AT A STAGE 8.13 FEET NEAR THE HIGHWAY 46 BRIDGE NORTH OF GOODING ON MONDAY MORNING.
THE RIVER WILL RISE ANOTHER FOOT TO A CREST AROUND 9.0 FEET ON MONDAY NIGHT OR TUESDAY MORNING NEAR THE HIGHWAY 46 BRIDGE.
AT THESE LEVELS...FLOODING WILL OCCUR NEAR THE BRIDGE. WATER IS NOT EXPECTED TO SPILL OVER THE ROAD UNLESS IT REACHES 10 FEET AT THE BRIDGE WHICH COULD OCCUR IF DEBRIS IN THE RIVER PILES UP ON THE BRIDGE. PERSONS WITH INTERESTS NEAR THE BIG WOOD RIVER SHOULD CONTINUE TO TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT PROPERTY.

GOODING -- John Gies stood on his back porch Sunday afternoon, looking at the pond that used to be his backyard.The Big Wood River was rising, but Gies didn't seem too concerned."It's flooded before," Gies said. "It doesn't come over the banks. It's always a nuisance, but we've been through this before and I suppose we'll get through it again." {Read more...}
